Counter-Strike: Global Offensive

Counter-Strike: Global Offensive (CS:GO or just Global Offensive) is the fourth installment of the Counter-Strike series, not including Neo and Online. CS:GO is being developed by Valve and Hidden Path Entertainment with the Source engine and is said to be planned for release sometime in an undetermined day or month in 2012.

Global Offensive will be for PC (Microsoft Windows), Mac OS X, Xbox 360, and PlayStation 3. The game will contain maps from previous games and brand new maps that aren't played by its predecessors. Along with that, new characters and game modes will be added.

It will also have cross-platform multiplayer between PC, Macs, and the PlayStation 3. In CS:GO, the PlayStation 3 will be given three control methods: using the regular DualShock 3 controller, PlayStation Move--motion-sensing game controllor--and USB keyboard/mouse.

Now, just like other games of Counter-Strike, Global Offensive is an objective-based multiplayer first-person shooter. You can join either the Terrorists (T) or Counter-Terrorists (CT) and complete the objective or just wipe out the entire opposing team. CS:GO is going to have demolition, hostage rescue, and a new mode called arsenal.

Like every Counter-Strike game, Global Offensive will be played in short rounds that will end when one team is eliminated or the objective is completed, whichever happens first. Also as usual, when a player dies, the player cannot respawn until the start of the next round. Each player is awarded money based on how he/she played. Money is distributed for completing the objective, killing other players, and, of course, winning the round. Players will lose money if they kill their own teammate. The money earned is used for buying weapons and equipment, such as flashbangs, deffusal kits, helmets, and Kevlar. The most notable weapon being added in Global Offensive is the Molotov cocktail which covers part of an area with fire and players cannot pass unless they wish to sustain significant damage.
