Metroid Prime 3: Corruption Review

By nation vengeance October 14, 2011

Metroid Prime 3: Corruption is the last game in the Metroid Prime trilogy, released in 2007 for the Wii console. Instead of being a side-scroller like older Metroid games, this one is a first-person shooter/platformer. Control schemes tend to be easy on the Wii and Metroid Prime 3 is no exception: You point and shoot with the Wiimote, while movement is done with the joystick on the Nunchuk attachment.

This game does a number of things right and is very immersive. The environments in the game are very well animated, and look wonderful. You will never have to ask what planet you are on, you know by the scenery. This game also hides the fact that it's busy loading pretty well; instead of opening a door and looking at a loading bar, you shoot the door and wait for it to open. While you wait, you can even finish your business in the room you're in (though it only takes around 5-10 seconds for a door to open anyway). When going to another planet in your ship, the loading is also hidden by a scene of your ship entering that planet's atmosphere. An excellent soundtrack adds further polish, and really sums up the mood of what is going on.

Metroid Prime 3 also has some setbacks. The one that annoyed me the most was Spoiler Alert That is really the only bad thing about this game. The ending was spectacular, and really resolved any conflicts in the game.

The boss fights also helped in this game. They are difficult, but doable. The scan technique really helps: You scan the boss at each phase and are told the weak point. But it's not a dead giveaway because even knowing what to do it's still difficult to accomplish.

This was an awesome game, and I can't wait to play it again on the Hypermode difficulty. My verdict is a 5 out of 5, because I think this may be the best Wii game and the best one we will get.
